The Healthy Bones is the first is a series of books called “Medicine Through Food”. Dr. Kelly has a clinical doctorate in Oriental Medicine as a recognized primary care provider in the state of California.
The Healthy Bones is first and foremost a cookbook, so this is a great book if you are a foodie. The first half of the book provided education on nutrition, bone health and diet, touching on subjects such as the gut microbiome, the benefits and shortcomings of supplements, and how to talk to your doctor about nutrition.
The cookbook section covers everything from soup, salads and sides to main dishes and desserts. Many of the recipes are somewhat complex, and take time to prepare, but they are healthy for the bones and quite tasty. So, if you’re looking to do some homemade holiday cooking that is good for your bones, then pick this one up.
